BLOOD ORANGE & COBALT BLUE

Sounds like an electroclash band doesn't it? these are the colors for the cando and joelmite may 21st nupts!

No one is expected to wear any certain colors though so don't go thinkin so or even dream of putting away your shiny gold sequined dynasty era joan collins dress with shoulder pads, or whatever it is you had planned to wear.

DRESS to kill

im kind of surprised my wedding dress doesn't come with a machine gun or some sort of insane martial arts posses like the crazy 88. it's like scartlet o'hara redux.

it's white and beautiful enough i believe, to please the purists and the punks alike. very feminine and very dramatic. i love it. my sweet aunty bestowed it to me. i'm in love with it and i can't wait to go to the fitting and try it on as it was intended. fitting perfectly. :)

we are sea monkeys in love

I have a lot of weird ideas to put a truly joel and candy spin on our big night. I think decorations should reflect the mondo bizarro vibe that we admire.

For some reason this has stuck out to me as a HUGE inspiration:

Perhaps its the aquatic meets outer space feeling.

kickin' party!!!

Last Saturday Joel and I had our engagement party. It was hosted by my good friends Leda and Ryan in the backyard of their new house. It's too bad that many of our friends and loved ones who live far away or had other plans could not make it. Here's a description of the night though, for those of you.

Beautiful candles in mason jars and surrounded by seashells lit our way to the backyard. Once there i was delighted to find yummy homemade watermelon cocktail punch! Watermelon is one of my favorite things. Ryan had rigged a tarp over half the yard incase the dreaded rain in the forecast came for us but luckily there was not a drop all night long. Twinkly lights and more candles gave the yard a warm glow. There were delicious snacks such as crabcakes, and dumplings, mini pizzas, hummus and countless bottles of beer and champagne. Such spoils! But the best part of the night was undoubtably being surrounded by the significant people in our lives. It was so nice to realize that we get to marry not only each other but also this wonderful group of family and friends. It made me even more excited for the wedding when EVERYONE will be mingling in one place. I've no doubt I will be grinning from ear to ear as I feel the warm glow of saturday night recaptured and at maximum intensity!

Awwwww yeah!!!

Betrothed!!!

Well here it is! My first blog entry as a betrothed woman. Eat it up yum!

Joel and I got engaged exactly one month ago on my birthday. I've already gotten quite a bit started and the list goes like this:

Put together a Preliminary Guest List:
i think everyone is on there but Joel still needs to look over it and then we'll both need to finalize.

Contacted Venues:
We were just told yesterday that we will be getting our top choice venue, The Lilac: an old lighthouse tending boat from 1929 that we fell in love with last year on the pier.
We will be their first ever wedding. As it stands right now we are just waiting for confirmation of dates and details. Hoping for Saturday May 21st, 2011 or at the very least some saturday in the month of May. *fingers crossed*

Started trying on Dresses:
I've already been to David's and RK Bridal. I plan on trying on more dresses from RK as they are the best quality for the best deal. I have a strong feeling the dress will be found there but I'm gonna keep looking for another couple months till it reveals itself.
Trying on dresses has been such fun! They really feel like no other dress i have ever worn.

Foodstuffs:
My sweet friend Kadiesha of ieattreats.com and I have started to discuss a fun and relatively simple menu plan but there's a ways to go on that as of yet.

Style/Themes:
Inspiration board! Ill have to post some of the stuff I've found here but right now i think steampunk, meets nautical, meets aquatic meets post apocalyptic and a touch of old hollywood (in my appearance mostly). There wont be a specific theme but more just funky fun stuff that is very true to Joel and I.

We also secured our officiant! Our good friend Mr. Adrian Wilbert will be presiding and guiding us to matrimonial bliss.

Anyway, ill try to keep this updated as best i can for those who are interested, have questions or feel out of the loop.

I'm soooooooooo excited to party it up and marry my beloved!
